Ephs.4:27 Paul tells us to give no place to him. David in the bible was a great warrior. He was a Great King. He had slew the mighty giant Goliath. He was Gods man of the hour. There was a time in David’s life he was home on leave from war. He was in his palace resting and He looked out of his palace and there was a beautiful woman called Bethsheba sunning and bathing and he desired her. And he sent for her. Finding out she was married didn’t stop him.
Giving way to the sin of adultery. Then on top of his sin she becomes pregnant with his child while her husband was on the battlefield as a captain over his men. They tried to cover the sin up by having her husband to come home on leave to be with her so they could say it was his child. And when he refused to leave his men on the battlefield. David had him put on the front lines hoping he would be killed, and he was.
1 John 2:15-17 The bible tells us of three ways satan uses against us.
1.Lust of the eyes.
2.Lust of the flesh.
3.Pride of Life
Satan was at work trying to destroy God’s man. David gave place first to the lust of the eyes then the others came into play in his life.
Satan caused much sorrow in David’s life. David repented of his sin and God forgave him. But David went through much sorrow losing his child by Bethsheba, whom he loved dearly. There are times in our life that we give place to the enemy not even realizing we are. James said to give him no place to stay on guard. When we give satan a place to work in our lives, he brings his friends with him.
James 3:16 Where envy or strife is there is another at work and that is confusion. Have you ever heard the saying give him an inch and he will take a mile. That is how satan works. We can see that in David’s life. Always remember the enemy comes as an angel of light . He is a deceiver. Just like he did to Eve in the beginning in the garden. He first told her she would not die if she ate of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. He is a deceiver. He did not tell her she would be driven from her home the beautiful garden, where all the provision was hers for the taking. He did not tell her of the pain she would feel. He did not tell her, her spirit would be dead toward God. That great feeling of peace and well being would be gone. No satan never tells you the end of the story he is a liar and father of lies.
God tells us in His word how to have life and abundant life. God’s words are for our protection. Sin always has a penalty-death. There is no life in sin only destruction. It may not be physical death, but it kills the good in our life. It kills the peace in our life and the joy in our life. The enemy has come to steal, kill and destroy. Jesus has come to give life and that abundantly.
Watch for the flashing warning signs. Always remember when you give way to strife the spirit of confusion comes also. Also when you give way to love, than joy, and peace comes with gentleness. All these come into your life by the spirit of life in Christ Jesus.
